This year we were blessed with half a metre of snow falling the week before we headed down to the snow fields. Then Saturday was lovely and sunny. There was so much snow that the road to Charlottes Pass was still closed, so we made do by staying at Perisher Valley all day.
First up everyone had to release some pent up energy by throwing snowballs at the leaders! With the lifts closed due to the end of the season, there weren't many others around, so we took over part of front valley for our toboggans.
Later in the afternoon we had an ice cream in Jindabyne and went for a walk along the new foot path around Lake Jindabyne. We were back in time for showers and dinner, and needless to say there were some very tired cubs who didn't need much urging to go to bed.
Sunday was cooler and the soft snow from Saturday had firmed up and was much faster under the toboggans. On Saturday we were able to get half way down the slope, on Sunday you went right to the bottom. The top part was nice and smooth from our efforts on Saturday, but the lower half was a bit bumpy. There was also the snowman competition; which we did not win; again.
We stopped off in Maccas for dinner and were back home by 10pm. Many thanks to Akela Sue from 1/2 Harbord for organising the weekend.
